Editor Guidelines
These guidelines set out the responsibilities of the Editor-in-Chief, associate editors and guest editors of MedScyentist.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate every manuscript on its scientific merit alone, without regard to the authors' nationality, institution, gender, religion or seniority.
- Carry out an initial assessment of scope, quality and compliance with the author guidelines before sending a manuscript for review.
- Select at least two qualified, independent reviewers with no conflict of interest, and preserve their anonymity and the authors' anonymity.
- Reach decisions on the basis of the reviewers' reports and their own assessment, and explain decisions clearly to authors.
- Keep all submitted manuscripts confidential and never use unpublished material in their own research.
- Handle allegations of misconduct in line with the guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Conflicts of Interest
Editors must declare any conflict of interest and must not handle manuscripts from their own institution, recent collaborators or anyone with whom they have a personal or financial relationship. Such manuscripts are assigned to another editor. Manuscripts submitted by an editor of the journal are handled entirely by another editor, and the submitting editor has no access to their review.
Editorial Independence
Editorial decisions are made independently of the publisher's commercial interests. Payment of the Article Publication Charge has no influence on whether a manuscript is accepted.
